These categories describe the public training structure. They do not score educational quality or predict local credentialing.
Fellowship-branded
The provider uses fellowship language for a longitudinal program. You still need to confirm scan access, feedback, supervision, and assessment.
Structured mentorship
A defined relationship with recurring faculty contact and feedback, often narrower in audience or scope than a full fellowship.
Certificate or custom training
A formal completion pathway, educator track, assessment process, or tailored service. Valuable, but not interchangeable with a fellowship.

Online POCUS fellowship FAQ
Can an online fellowship replace in-person supervised scanning?
No. A strong virtual program can provide longitudinal mentorship and expert review, but image acquisition still happens with a probe in a real clinical or simulation setting. Confirm how local supervision and hands-on practice are supplied.
What equipment and patient access will I need?
Requirements vary. Many programs expect reliable internet, access to an ultrasound device, and appropriate access to patients or models. Some also require a local mentor or institutional support.
How much image review is enough?
There is no universal number. Look beyond volume to reviewer expertise, feedback specificity, repetition over time, coverage of your intended exams, and whether improvement is documented.
Does a completion certificate grant hospital privileges?
No certificate or fellowship automatically controls local privileging. Your institution determines scope, competency evidence, documentation, supervision, and quality-assurance requirements.
Why are mentorships and certificates listed separately?
